The project was a comprehensive website redesign for MAPP, one of the largest independent digital marketing technology companies in the world. The project involved developing a new WordPress website based on graphic design mockups that effectively communicated MAPP's insight-led customer engagement platform and marketing analytics solutions to over 3,000 businesses across diverse industries including retail, eCommerce, finance, and publishing.
MAPP (formerly Mapp Digital), a leading provider of insight-led customer experiences and digital marketing technology, serving over 3,000 businesses globally with their Marketing Cloud platform for cross-channel customer engagement and personalization.
The client industry was Marketing Technology (MarTech) and Customer Data Platform (CDP) solutions, specializing in AI-powered customer intelligence, marketing analytics, and cross-channel campaign automation for enterprise-level businesses.
The project type was a complete website redesign and development based on graphic design mockups, involving custom WordPress theme development, collaborative development practices, and comprehensive cross-browser testing for a global MarTech platform.
The client problems solved included the need for a modern website that effectively communicated MAPP's complex marketing technology solutions to enterprise decision-makers, improved user experience for showcasing their Marketing Cloud platform capabilities, better presentation of their AI-powered personalization features, and enhanced mobile responsiveness for C-suite executives researching MarTech solutions on various devices.
The key objectives were to create a professional website that clearly explained MAPP's insight-led customer engagement platform, showcase their Marketing Cloud's ability to personalize marketing messages across websites, email, SMS, and push notifications, demonstrate their flexible API integrations with existing marketing ecosystems, highlight their success with 3,000+ businesses across diverse industries, and improve lead generation for their enterprise-focused solutions.
The challenges faced included translating complex MarTech concepts into accessible web content for diverse audiences, ensuring pixel-perfect implementation of graphic design mockups, maintaining optimal performance for a content-rich platform showcase website, coordinating collaborative development with another developer using version control, and ensuring responsive design worked flawlessly across all devices for enterprise decision-makers.
The stack used for the project included WordPress with custom theme development tailored to MAPP's requirements, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for flexible content management of complex product information, custom PHP development for dynamic functionality, JavaScript for interactive elements and user experience enhancements, and GitHub for collaborative development and version control with the other developer.
The process highlights included receiving comprehensive graphic design mockups from the design team after client meetings, implementing pixel-perfect WordPress development that matched design specifications, creating custom ACF field groups for easy management of product features and case studies, developing responsive layouts that maintained design integrity across all devices, utilizing BrowserStack for extensive cross-browser and device testing, and establishing a collaborative Git workflow with another developer for efficient code sharing and merging.
The collaboration involved close communication with graphic designers to ensure accurate implementation of design mockups and making necessary adjustments based on feedback, regular coordination with another web developer using GitHub for code sharing, merging, and version control, iterative development process with design team reviews to meet exact visual expectations, and collaborative problem-solving to ensure optimal website performance and functionality.
Some unusual decisions made during the project included creating a modular ACF architecture that allowed for complex product feature presentations while maintaining design consistency, implementing custom JavaScript solutions to enhance user interaction with MAPP's platform demonstrations, developing a collaborative Git workflow that enabled seamless parallel development without conflicts, and creating responsive breakpoints that preserved the sophisticated design aesthetic across all device sizes.
The outcome of the project was a sophisticated and fully responsive website that effectively showcased MAPP's Marketing Cloud platform. Key results included successful pixel-perfect implementation of all graphic design mockups, improved user experience for enterprise prospects researching MarTech solutions, enhanced mobile responsiveness confirmed through comprehensive BrowserStack testing, seamless collaborative development workflow that enabled efficient team coordination, and a robust content management system that allowed MAPP's team to easily update product information and case studies.
The client feedback was highly positive, with MAPP's team expressing satisfaction with how accurately the website captured their brand vision and effectively communicated their complex marketing technology solutions. The graphic designers were pleased with the faithful implementation of their design concepts, and the marketing team appreciated the intuitive content management system for ongoing updates.
